Darwin Baptist Church
1033 Highway 3
Antlers, Oklahoma 74523

About 8 1/2 miles west of Antlers, Oklahoma in Pushmataha County, you will
find a great little country church that has been spreading the word of God for
61 years since about 1946 at this location. The church congregation chose the present location by
the highway from the cemetery area. Reverend Jewell Cunningham was the Pastor as well
as the chief builder of the church. It was a community effort from the
men, women on down to the children. We all helped in the building and I am sure
some of us even got in the way. The church was originally built in a
form of a cross with additions and modifications over the years.

Darwin Church - My Church
by Rita Fleming
(She was a long time church member)
There's something special about the people
In the church where I belong,
You get a special blessing
In each prayer and every song.
They are always ready
To lend a helping hand,
To any one, any time
Any way they can.
They seem to work together
In all the things they do,
You feel a friendly atmosphere
That is shown to you.
You feel while they are walking
Upon this earthly sod,
That they are Christian soldiers
And walk hand in hand with God.
Yes, there is something special
In this church where I belong,
You feel their love and friendliness
In every prayer and song.
And some day we will all meet
In that fair land above,
And live with our Father there
In joy and peace and love.
